The Northern Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) said at the weekend that it would discuss vital issues affecting members of the association and the nation, particularly implementation of Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) as it concerns youths during its conference.
Secretary General of the group, Joshua John Ringsum, who led a delegation to the Jos Bureau of Daily Trust, said, "The conference is for us from the 19 northern states and Abuja to look at situations as they affect the youths. We want to discuss SURE-P as it concerns youths. President Goodluck Jonathan made promises to the youths, we want to weigh the promises vis-à-vis implementation."
Ringsum said the group would generally be examining national political leadership and the 2015 general election year. "We want to ex-ray the performance and programmes of the president before really talking about 2015," Ringsum said.
He added that the conference would equally be assessing the impact the 19 northern governors are making on the people, particularly the youths, and to draw attention to areas where more impact is needed
The conference is slated for next month, April 8 & 9 in Kaduna, Daily Trust learnt.
